Dear LCD4VIDEO
I purchased one of your 7' LCDs for a 6 week TV shoot in my home country of New Zealand...
As director i have 2 cam ops and a DP who provided a 20" and a 9" HD moitor setup. Budget wouldn't allow for a 3rd for me to see the crane and the 3rd camera without incessantly flicking between inputs so I splashed out for one of your screens and have to say it has served me extremely well.
Despite copping flack from my camera assistants for not having a "label monitor", the camera department have slowly become impressed with its lighweight portability and the life of the lithium ion batteries. Being a stylised reality show - kind of like Top Gear meets Mythbusters it has been a low budget show saver.
About to show the assists the LCD4Video on CSI youtube.
Should finally get me some sort of respect :)
JOSH THOMSON | DIRECTOR
"I have two of your R-3 LED lights. I recently had a big corporate shoot with a new client I needed to impress. I brought out all the gear, lighting kit, crane, multiple cameras, etc.
I needed to film some testimonials at different times at a conference. I wanted to vary the location so it wasn't a boring talking head, repetitive shoot. The problem is I didn't want to have to move a lighting kit from location to location, especially since the hot lights were a safety issue.
Solution: I took off the shoe mount on the bottom of the R-3 LED light and mounted a tripod adaptor on the bottom (from an extra cheap tripod I had). I used this tripod mounted light as a fill light. I mounted the 2nd light on top of the camera (the speakers would not be looking directly into the camera since this was interview). It worked awesome! It looks like I had 4 Grand in lighting equipment on the subject. Now I just need a 3rd light for a hair light.
This isn't what these lights were intended for, but if someone wanted a portable, run and gun lighting system that's easy to travel with, set up and tear down in a minute or less, the R-3 fits the bill.
My client was very happy with the result and they are already talking about future projects that we will be developing for them."
